It’s little things like this that make you look great in the eyes of your customers.

Sending a handwritten thank you note for choosing you will often convince your customers to return to you when they are in need of your specific type of service again. And really, a quick little note should only take you a couple of minutes to write. This could ensure future sales that can add up to hundreds of dollars.

If your business is relatively small and one that offers a service, it’s good to give customers a way to contact you offline, such as by mail or telephone. It isn’t hard to get a mailing address for this purpose, such as a rented post office box. You might also consider using Skype. Between these two options, you have given yourself an offline identity, something that will endear you to your clients, especially if you answer your Skype calls when they come in.

You can, like a regular business, have set hours when you answer the phone; make sure you post these online. You should stay consistent and really be at your computer and near the phone at the times you promise to be. Talking to people like this might make more sales for you, as you become an actual person rather than another anonymous website.

Another important aspect of customer service is offering your customers an easy way to reach you for questions or support. If you want people to purchase something from you and return to your site, you should definitely provide contact information. Sellers who do not have a point of contact look like scammers.

You want to provide as much personal service as your customers want. You simply must give people some way to reach you. Yes, this creates more work for you, but isn’t it worth it if it helps you make the sale? Sometimes it takes that level of personal contact to turn a looker into a buyer.

When you start to look for ways to improve the way you serve your customers, you will see there are many things you can do. You have to get past the myth that customer service is something only traditional businesses have to worry about.

This cannot be ignored by anyone who wants his customers to keep returning. People like to be treated with respect. If someone who buys something from you feels that the interaction has been pleasant, that they’ve gotten a good deal and that they can feel secure in their purchase, then you’ve provided good customer service. That’s all there is to it!
