Flock, A Great Web Browser For Web 2.0
I just finished downloading and installing Flock. Flock is a new browser based on Mozilla. Flock provides great new features that support the social aspects of web 2.0 in what could be described as a browser mashup.
Managing Social Web Accounts
Flock allows you to centralize all your social account information within your web browser with a seamlessly integrated toolbar. Which,I have to tell you, is a great relief given the large number of various accounts you have to keep track of in the Web 2.0 world. Flock supports a number of online accounts such as you tube,Twitter, Pownce, Digg, Facebook and many others.
Built-in Blog Editor
In addition to the built-in social web tools, it also provides a built-in blog editor. This editor seems very simple but convenient and given that Flock integrates with various blog sites such as Blogger, Typepad and Live-writer, it could be handy.
The Dashboard
Flock offers a command-central styled dashboard called “my world” that ties all the great features back together into a centralized page. It reminds me a little bit of a company intranet or share point site.
Summary
Ultimately, Flock still just a web browser but if you’re into the social aspects of the Internet, which I am, and this browser is a must-have tool. I would really like to see an enhanced version of the blog editor add additional social sites support. Other than those small changes, I think the browser’s great and it’s based on the well established and trust worthy Mozilla platform. I would encourage you to download it and give it a try and let me know what you think?
