Blog Action Day – Every Blogger Can Make a Difference on Oct 15th

What is Blog Action Day?

It is nice to know that we can all make a difference in the world no matter how small .  And it’s really cool that blogger’s across the planet are coming together to help those less fortunate. I came across blog action day while reading some other posts from some of my favorite blogging sites.

I saw the banner ad and decided to take a look to see what it was about. Its about helping people and contributing to society, to your neighborhood or even the planet (go green!). The basic principle behind blog action Day is that you contribute in some fashion to society but donating your time, money or expertise.

My Actions

I am creating this post in support of the cause with the hope that others will follow and potentially sign up @blogactionDay.org . I joined kiva.org, ” Kiva’s mission is to connect people through lending for the sake of alleviating poverty. “, they have teams available and I joined the blogger’s lending team.

Without knowing it I’ve been supporting spirit of Blog Action Day for quite some time by assisting my local veterans hospital with their monthly newsletter publication (hey its harder than it sounds). I  spent time (6yrs) in the US military as a Navy hospital corpsman and as part of my training I worked in Great Lakes Illinois at the veterans hospital. There are many military veterans who really need help and who didn’t necessarily choose to go to war, get injured or come back with psychological disabilities. I’ve been out of the military for more than 10 years but always felt the veterans administration was a great organization.

Your Turn

Please take some time to contribute! They wont be asking you to feed hungry (you can if you want to), but it’s your turn to give back (in a small way). Please go to the blogactionDay.org web site and at a minimum register and get the banner ad for your blog.  There are only 10 days left, and I think you can contribute 10 days of traffic for the cause!  Additionally, the organization is requesting a special post on the 15th to support the cause.
